sherman tank 75mm solid shot ww2?

question guys--- is this a legit 75mm used in a Sherman tank? it looks to be a solid shot round. the top has been repainted.

Nice Round! Its WW2 but too bad the projectile is a re-paint and the case appears to have been polished at some time. Some like these all spiffed up and repainted with the original nomenclature stenciled on the projectile. I prefer them to look 75 years old.

It's also lacking any headstamp generally found on US Army ordnance....Bodes

So it could have been found in the ammo bins of a Churchill infantry tank during the war, the casing at any rate.

But, they up gunned most Shetmans to the British 17 pounder. Not sure when they switched over.

I believe only one in four Shermans were up gunned to the 17 pounder.

Numerous Churchill tanks had their barrels changed out with those of destroyed Sherman tanks...Seems the British prefered the 75mm over their six pounder....This and commonwealth troops used the US M3 Grant tank which also used the 75mm as well....Bodes

The up-gunned Churchills were carrying a bored-out version of the 6 Pdr known as the Ordnance QF 75mm. They didn't use American 75mm guns.
