John T Posted December 25, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2008 Hello Everybody: I have these Pilot's Wings with sloppy shear marks at the top of the shield. Can anybody tell me if this is damage or the mark of a bad wing? Thanks a lot! John

Tonomachi Posted December 25, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 25, 2008 Maybe this started off as a command pilot wing and someone sloppily removed the wreath and star off of the top.
cwnorma Posted December 25, 2008 Share #8 Posted December 25, 2008 Maybe this started off as a command pilot wing and someone sloppily removed the wreath and star off of the top. That would be my guess as well. I know over the years when I would go to the clothing sales store to pick up a new badge, from time to time they would be out of the badge I needed so I would get the "next one up" and cut off the other bits with a nipper. It appears that something similar happened here.
John T Posted December 25, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted December 25, 2008 Hello Tonomachi and cwnorma: Thank you fellows very much for the replies. I have never thought of that and that would certainly seem to make sense! Kindest Regards, John
