Dom,

I've seen this type of wing before with different center pieces. I don't know the maker but here's another like yours but without the rivet: http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/aircrew/presleyaafaircrew4.shtml

I've usually seen them with the center piece soldered onto the wing instead of riveted. I have no concerns about the authenticity of your badge just that the riveting is unique. The base wing seems to follow the same pattern as the cadet cap device: http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/miscellaneous/cadethatbadgeaaf.shtml I've also seen a similar style of wing without a circular center section but with a bit different feathering pattern: http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/gunner/steraafgunnerset.shtml Wish I had an answer for you on who made them but they are a unique and, I think, quite beautiful variation of wing.

Ditto to what Bob said. I have found that there are more than a few ratings that were made from what I believe to have been cadet cap badges. Probably a company tapping into a new market as the USAAF in WWII started to expand and various strategies were being tested to keep up with the demand for new wings.

It is a super neat variation with the rivited AC device. Well done, and nice wing!
