tom63 Posted April 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2019 Bought this patch recently at the local flea market. It was with several 1958-59 8th Army, Korea rifle/pistol team patches and a photo of Gen.Trapnell presenting a .45 to a match winner. Those dated patches were cut edge; this one is merrowed so is from a later period I assume. Any idea when the XXI Rifle/Pistol squad was formed? And what is the insignia in the middle with the crossed arrows, gun sight, and acorn(?) ?
atb Posted April 29, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2019 It's the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the XXI Corps. The gun sight is not part of the SSI, but of course represents the function of the shooting team.
Teamski Posted April 29, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2019 That is the patch of the 21st Corps..... -Ski
Teamski Posted April 29, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 29, 2019 The unit was deactivated in 1970 so I am sure the patch dates from the late 1960's or so..... -Ski
