The Rooster Posted April 28, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 28, 2019 I have a question about restoring the webbing in old liners. If you had an old M1 with a matching liner ... Is it best from a collectors stand point to replace the old torn webbng? Or is it best to leave it be? And if the liner is painted etc... does it hurt the vlue in replacing the rivets when the liner webbing is replaced? Or just leave it all be? Thank you. Wake1941 Posted April 28, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 28, 2019 Just leave it as is, most helmet collectors would rather have honest stuff over stuff that has been worked on by other collectors
JasonT Posted April 28, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 28, 2019 Personally I would leave it as is unless it's covered in mold or so rotted away there's practically nothing left. Plus if you are displaying a helmet on your shelf you won't see the inside of the liner anyway. Depends I guess on what you intend to do with it. But ultimately it is up to you. It's yours to do what you want with.
