Terry G Posted April 14, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2019 I recently acquired a 1929 dated uniform that has the 1920's collar brass with a 2 under the crossed rifles and a 2nde inf regt DI (odd placement!) attached to the pocket. Inside one of the pockets was a 2nd infantry regiment wool patch which took me a while to figure out. But it all seems to fit together. I would like to sew the patch back on the coat but I am not sure where it goes? I don't think these went on the upper left shoulder like a normal SSI but where does it belong? See photos and thanks for any help! Cheers, Terry
atb Posted April 14, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2019 If I am recalling correctly, it was sewn onto the lower part of the left coat sleeve near the cuff. But, I can't be sure. Have you researched online for images?
Terry G Posted April 14, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 14, 2019 I have researched a lot but found very little. This is it so far: http://www.nchsinc.com/product_p/b0893.htm There is also one currently for sale on ebay but no mention of how it is worn. Another on worthpoint, but again no mention of wear. The repro one offered by nchs is Geroge Petersen's store and was my first indication that the patch was not worn on the upper left sleeve. George does know his stuff. Thanks atb!
