Bob Hudson Posted April 15, 2019 Author Share #51 Posted April 15, 2019 Col. Morton is from Tennessee and even after running around the world and settling in Southern California, he still has a noticeable accent appropriate to someone who says he'll always be proud of his heritage. He has carried this from post to post for many decades and hopes it will stay with his other artifacts.

Bob Hudson Posted April 18, 2019 Author Share #56 Posted April 18, 2019 A couple of his religious medals: The Church War Cross was designed for GI's with the cross in a circle so that nothing can snag on it as it could with the standard cross worn on a chain around the neck. The other is the French medal for St. Michel the patron of parachutists.
Bob Hudson Posted May 17, 2019 Author Share #57 Posted May 17, 2019 Anyone know what this is? To me it appears to be a patch worn by someone with a combat parachute jump, maybe something worn on the breast pocket of a civilian suit.

There are black and white photographs showing a version of this patch being worn in 1946.

scotty1418 Posted May 20, 2019 Share #60 Posted May 20, 2019 French badge is Ecole Superieur de Guerre (located in Paris), fairly modern (would make sense that it dates to similar time as numbered wings). French wings - very nice that they were numbered. It seemed far more common for foreigners to receive a blank (non-numbered) pair.

That make sense: he and his wife moved something like 22 times during his career so he only kept things he actually used. When he I first bought from him he sold his field gear and helmet, and then the second time it was dress uniforms, insignia, etc.

manayunkman Posted May 5, 2020 Share #72 Posted May 5, 2020 I’m not unfamiliar with breaking up groups and don’t judge those who do. Your opinion is well taken.
