razorback Posted April 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2019 Hi everybody ! I recently bought this M1 shell more or less 100 USD ( according to current exchange rate) and would like to know what are your thoughts about it ? I'ts marked 617A Inside, fixed bails, and front seam...genuine WW2 or not ?? Thanks !
Junior45 Posted April 2, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2019 Nice looking lid, congrats!! From the sheet stamps, production would be sometime between Sept/October 43. The straps look WW2 manufactured and a pic of the sowing pattern by the bail would confirm if they are original to the helmet. hope that helps, Kind regards JEB

ken88 Posted April 3, 2019 Share #6 Posted April 3, 2019 Someone polished the hardware on the straps, but it looks totally fine. For a fixed loop helmet, you can't go wrong for 100 bucks. The chart would indeed date it late summer/fall 1943. It's for sure original.

shadawg Posted April 4, 2019 Share #10 Posted April 4, 2019 i really like the higher heat lot fixed bails knocking around like that. My highest one is 758F. These ones escaped the fate of the swivel bail conversion
