gap Posted April 1, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2019 Picked up this Amcraft marked officer's cap device at the flea market. It does not appear to have metal prongs like most. I first thought they had snapped off, but I don't see evidence of that. Is this unusual?

USMCR79 Posted April 1, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 1, 2019 All of my WWII Officer Badges are screwback Bill "The Americans on this Island are not ordinary troops, but Marines, a special force recruited from jails and insane asylums for blood lust." -Japanese Newspaper found during the Battle of Guadalcanal - "They Got That Right!!" VMI88 Posted April 1, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2019 I believe he's referring to the two pins on the tips of the wings that keep the badge from spinning. I can't say I've ever seen a cap badge without them so I'd call it a little unusual. Could be a quality control error - I can't see any reason to deliberately leave them off. Looking for older Virginia Military Institute items: insignia, uniforms, cadet sabers, documents, and groupings belonging to VMI alumni. Also interested in Virginia Reserve Militia (VRM) uniforms and insignia, or other items of general Virginia interest.
