Bob Hudson Posted March 20, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2019 This came home with a member of the 148th infantry. It has nice detail and must have been affordable by few Japanese soldiers. The inside has an interesting silvery finish over the brass.
Bob Hudson Posted March 20, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted March 20, 2019 Is that a map on the back?
sundance Posted March 20, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2019 I was just going to ask that. I suppose whatever is written on the back may be a clue. Great item though.

Dirk Posted March 20, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 20, 2019 A map of China....I wonder if the case might have been made there in occupied territory...I see they ran the Great Wall at the top of the case and in the map as well. Always looking for items associated with the China Marines! Visit chinamarine.org

Bob Hudson Posted March 20, 2019 Author Share #8 Posted March 20, 2019 A map of China....I wonder if the case might have been made there in occupied territory...I see they ran the Great Wall at the top of the case and in the map as well. To get me oriented: the area I circled in red, is that Taiwan? The detail is excellent: you can even see the star on the helmet on the map side (and the Great Wall is next to the helmet). TomP Posted March 22, 2019 Share #10 Posted March 22, 2019 Wow, the wear marks are quite pronounced! The location names are pretty worn on the map side. Must have been used heavily, great piece! Tom
