dmsusuki Posted February 22, 2021 Share #51 Posted February 22, 2021 WWIIBuff1945, I saw your USS 1911a1. What a great handgun. I needed to reply and add a few images you might find interesting in association with your veterans bring back CZ 27. I picked these two items off ebay. The document is a copy of his Hawaiian birth and the second is a very rare [on my opinion] 522nd pillow sham sweetheart item. I have never seen on before until I won this auction off the bay. These two items belonged to the Veteran with owned that great handgun bring back. Below are some examples of 44nd RCT sweetheart pillow covers [44nd RCT, 522nd FA and 171st Infantry Battalion who was left behind to train more draftees. The 100th Battalion would replace this organization in the 442 RCT as the 1st Battalion in Italy] respectively, dmsusuki
WWIIBuff1945 Posted February 22, 2021 Author Share #52 Posted February 22, 2021 That's cool that you have some of Williams items. Those sweetheart shams are interesting. His grandson told me he sold a lot of his items on eBay. William was a photographer and I would have loved to get some of his wartime shots. Thanks for posting it! dmsusuki Posted February 25, 2021 Share #53 Posted February 25, 2021 WWIIBuff1945 According to legend, when the 522nd was separated from the 442nd to invade Germany, they captured a mobile photo laboratory and dragged that trophy through the campaign. You might find it interesting that 522nd vets have a huge amount of photos because of the photo lab and they had custom photo albums sent to Germany during their occupation time. These photo albums are horizontal, light blue fabric cover with the veterans name and serial number and unit designation. Will send you a pic soon.
