Pictures would be great DUSMCN, the photos I would most like to see would be of the inside, chinstrap, and the outside without the cover.

For a forward. These are generally only issued now if your orders specified countries currently in conflict, not CENTCOM as a whole.

Things I noticed off the bat: the helmet is noticeably lighter. Obviously the cut is different. It generally sits better on the head. After wearing it for the better part of two days my head and neck do not hurt. The sizing is way different; literally all of my guys got a large All of them. Moving pads around adjusts the size And everyone seems to be extremely happy with it whether they wear a small or an extra large. The chinstrap feels cheaper however I dont think it will get as nasty, coarse, and stiff as the ACH style. The nape pad has just enough padding in it but not too much where it would act like a sweat sponge. The inside is not painted and it looks like carbon fiber versus Kevlar (knowing already that it isnt). The chin straps look user replaceable with just a simple pinch of the male end. Everything is already assembled when you get it minus the helmet cover and the rails. The night vision mount itself is metal but the frame that holds it seems to be a hard plastic. There is enough Velcro inside to move the pads anywhere you want or use any kind of pads I reckon. The profile is not much much lower than the ACH Ive had for 10 years. Its significantly easier for me to wear my Peltors under it and work the buttons. I cant comment on how hot it is because its cold over here currently.

The general consensus in my company is its the next best thing to sliced bread. A lot of the guys are also wearing the ECH which they seem to be happy with as well. Pictures to follow

4th group: with cover and raises front, side, back, inside with some pads removed

5th group: nape interior (Suede), 3M branded locking mech for chinstrap (tow back, two front), J hook attachment for helmet cover and J hook attachment for side rail, side by side ACH and IHPS without a level base or anything to measure against, sorry.

You’ll notice in the one with rails versus the one without, the one without rails still has the brown filler screws in the holes where the one with rails has black screws in it holding the rails on. They are just a tad bit longer obviously.

For install basically start at the front with the helmet cover and pull it over the back. There’s no stretching to it as it is not elastic it’s just more working the wrinkles out of it and mashing it down on the Velcro and then attaching the J hooks. There’s no real instructions for that. The only instructions came for the side rails. Basically it said remove brown screw, put the J hook in the slot with the rail rotated to the rear slightly press it against the helmet and rotate To the front and put it under the lip. Insert black screw.

It comes with one rail attachment which really messes with my OCD, but a lot of guys have attached flashlights GoPro, IR beacons, etc. to the one side.

Shouldering the rifle and going prone is nice, but I found I had to find a new point to index on my CCO. I usually go off my NVG mount which I found I couldn’t do with this due to the cut, but it’s a nonissue really.

I can’t speak for its strength as no one has tried to beat a MK19 bolt in and none of the platoon sergeants have launched theirs into orbit yet, but it seems to be equally as sturdy as the ACH. Someone commented it’s not as comfortable to lay back in and sleep in, haven’t tested myself but I know the ACH sleeps like Serta or MyPillow made it so the IHPS has big shoes to fill in my opinion.

The availability of attachments for “cool guy stuff” is limitless, no doubt amazon and SKD tactical got a load of orders after we got these....counterweights, lights, patches, IR stuff, etc.

I’m curious to see how the clip on top holds up because that seems to be right in the location where you bump your head on Bradley hatches, trying to walk through the RG 31 and catching it on J boxes, and dropping it on the ground or bearing the weight of the way or when they lean back in it. It does not look easily replaceable except for the male end. I cannot see how the female end attaches but I assume the single screw in the front holding the mount also holds it, looks like a chore to replace.

I also imagine any sideways or lateral pressure will cause the rim to flex or pop off, but I’d say that has to be a lot.

Overall it’s a win. Interested to see updates in the coming months/years as they move past the Gen 1 or whatever this one is.

Cap Camouflage Pattern I

Thank you for the great photos DUSMCN, really thorough! My mental image of the shape of the helmet was a bit off until I saw your inside picture. Odd that it only comes with one rail. Thanks for sharing.

Probably a long shot, but I have a 3M IHPS, a mid-cut version with the rails and NVG shroud I was thinking of selling.  Would anyone here be interested?  How much would it be worth?

Unfortunately I don't have the ballistic mandible or the eye protection.  It's pretty light compared to the old ACH.

They're great.  Next to the 3 piece sleep system and the slave cable power inverter, it is in my top 3 pieces of issued gear.

Hello everyone
I would like to know the dimensions of IHPS and Technical Parameters,
I've been looking online, but I haven't found a dimension table or Technical Manual anywhere - nothing that would be worth interest.
Could someone tell me where I can find a size chart and a Technical Manual for IHPS online?
I would be very grateful

Cheers
