Some really nice stuff, congrats on the find.

I never think of looking for several items named to the same man in surplus store, but you mentioning that they will price individually makes sense..

Thanks for sharing ;)

Those look like nice WWi EM Navy Tousers.

Yes these caught my eye. They seemed very early, maybe even pre WWI, but the museum tag says 1920's? But I guess I'm not really sure if they're even US? Would appreciate any thoughts on them. The only markings I can find appear to be hand written initials.

Jeb,

I was glad they kept the museum tags on them, that their inventory numbers connected some of the un-named items to the named items.

USMC,

Your trousers look like WWI to me (and this pattern carried over into the inter-war years (I collect WWI Naval tally caps) and hence the "1920's tag". The Blue jumper looks to be WWI pattern but most likely from the inter-war years based on the manufacturer's label but could be WWI due to the construction of the rating. Your man was a Boatswain's Mate 1st Class. Very nice pick-ups.

Sure that must have helped but good thinking and definitely a good tip for my future trips! i'll usually go straight to Ikes and A class' without thinking of shirts, pants or hats individually!

The funky rate, the unusual pocket, and the mother of pearl buttons makes me think this might be a " Fashion Middy" made for a woman in the teens or 20's.

That would be interesting and I was kind of thinking it may be something like that, because the material seems much lighter (Thinner for lack of better words) and the color seems to be a bit more blue (but doesn't really show that in the picture compared to in hand)? But it is well made.

Any way to know for sure?

That would be interesting if so. I'm not familiar with their history, but sounds like something that started early 1900's around WWI? Is there a collector market for these?

Thanks

Nice find! This is a perfect example of why I always tell people NOT to donate things to museums, and if they do, just know that museums OFTEN sell or otherwise get rid of things! Not that I blame them of course, can't keep everything.

I am bored prefixing everything I say with "I think" or "in my opinion".
Everything I say is my opinion; the only thing of which I am certain is that there is very little of which one can be certain.

I agree, many people considering donating family items to a museum believe the items are going to be preserved and placed in a display to honor their family member. Some items may make a show case, but most I would assume do not.
