Picked up this gun camera at the SOS and found a Japanese Dog Tag inside. Mailed home by Dewey Blackmon of Haw River North Carolina. He was with the Service Company of the 19th Infantry Regiment. The Dog tag was a nice surprise.

Wow!! I grew up in Haw River.. I wished the name sounded familiar. He's buried in the same cemetery as my parents..

I picked up a tag a few years back with the code 16706 and a few other codes were talked about and the 1st Sea Going Destroyer Battalion 16708 was one of them. My tag came out of the Philippines. I cant say for sure that yours came from there but could be likely. Heres my tag.

The16708 was also considered to be a 1st Sea Pursuit Battalion at least that’s what was talked about on Wehrmacht Awards Japanese section where mine was posted years ago.

Nice find! What aircraft was the gun camera used in do you know?

Paul

It was used to train gunners and fighter pilots. It could be mounted on a variety of aircraft.
