kcmo Posted February 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2019 All, Looking for additional information on this early Normandy KIA from an 82nd Airborne Soldier. I have the basic information from find a grave and WWII memorial but specifics of his actions are alluding me including his battalion. There is a lot of general information in the actions of the 325th GIR but I cannot find specifics. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated to honor this soldiers sacrifice properly. He was born in West Virginia and enlisted on 20 March 1942 in Ohio. He reached the rank of Sergeant before arriving in Normandy on D+1 on 7 June 1944 via gliders from my research. The 325th was heavily engaged in combat operations on 9 June when this NCO lost his life specifically at La Fier Causeway. Thanks in advance for any information. kcmo Posted February 17, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted February 17, 2019 Thanks for the photo and link to the morning reports. I was able to find this from the reports. I tried to research the other soldiers on 9 June assuming they were lost in the same action but no luck. I will get the IDPF ordered shortly but was hoping to find more information before hand.
