hink441 Posted February 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2019 Any ideas who the "Gunners" are? I would think it might be a squadron patch.
Salvage Sailor Posted February 11, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2019 Not so sure about this one being a carrier squadron patch. In June 2004 the Abe had just left the yards after a ten month overhaul and had no air group aboard until later in the year (CVW-2 in October) for the Iraq surge. They were filming a movie in June 2004 and conducting carrier qualifications for 12 squadrons according to this Navy news release https://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=13848 I'm thinking this is a (VT) training squadron class patch from the carrier quals. hink441 Posted February 11, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted February 11, 2019 I agree. It looks like it has to be a class patch from the training squadrons. Chris
