1st Cavalry Div Coconut Shell DI

Recent addition to my CAV collection that I have never seen till now, a 1st Cav Div Coconut Shell DI.

There are a few coconut shell DI's out there, some scattered in the forum, but they seem to be few and far between.

I can't say I've ever come across DI's made from a coconut shell, so I would say they are pretty rare. They seem to be the PTO equivalent to the Bakelite DI's you can find from the ETO

That is fantastic and I doubt many survived the war with how brittle they are

I have only seen two or three other coconut shell DI’s and they were all AAF.

That's really nice. Another coconut DUI I know of is for the 6th Ranger Bn.
