Scarecrow Posted February 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2019 I'm a little bit out of my comfort zone when it comes to WWI US field gear. I recently acquired the attached M1910 backpack. I don't believe it was ever issued, its in great shape just some storage marks and stains. What drew me to it was the date 1917, as it seems the majority of the gear found is dated 1918, and the mfg name Zittlosen. I did find in a web search that there was a Zittlosen Mfg. Co. Canvas Works. My question is: is Zittlosen a scarce manufacturer or quite common? Again with my limited WWI gear knowledge I have never run across the manufacturer Zittlosen. Thanks for any help. milsurp_scout_14 Posted February 3, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2019 I've seen quite a few of these packs, but have never seen that manufacturer. Not sure if it's 'scarce' or not though.
wyatt265 Posted February 3, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 3, 2019 I looked in "America's Munitions 1917-1918 " by Benedict Crowell 1919. The company does not show up as one of the 7 primary contractors for web gear. I'm guessing it is a fairly scarce minor contractor. That might make it pretty rare,
