Grant Bias Posted February 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2019 First off, this tag is not mine, however it is being offered for sale from a gentleman in Italy. I am posting this for the family member of the deceased veteran. I have no idea how much the guy in Italy is wanting to sell it to the family member. In everyone's opinion, is this a legit tag? This is the only picture that I have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
USdog Posted February 2, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2019 Looks good to me. It appears to be ground dug. What I am curious about is the serial number? Is it a Canadian serial number? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Grant Bias Posted February 3, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted February 3, 2019 USDog, thanks for your response. I spoke to the family member and yes, the veteran was Canadian serving in the FSSF.

tim novak Posted February 5, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 5, 2019 Grant, I am sure you have seen D.E. Dickie Truro, Nova Scotia listed in the unit history. I have seen this guy on the roster to Oran, Algeria listed in second section, 2nd Co 3rd Regiment with the same F-30467 number. There are far better opinions about the tag itself. Mr.Jerry Posted February 7, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 7, 2019 Interesting that they did not use the "Next of Kin" information for a Canadian, as they would have during that early (42-43) time for a US soldier.
USdog Posted February 7, 2019 Share #7 Posted February 7, 2019 T-42-43 does not mean it had to be an NOK.
Mr.Jerry Posted February 7, 2019 Share #8 Posted February 7, 2019 Ok, I stand corrected - Is it known when they stopped doing that? Or was it phased out over a longer period?
USdog Posted February 7, 2019 Share #9 Posted February 7, 2019 It was in mid 1943.
