Navy flight jacket

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I was given this jacket just recently from a co-worker who said it belonged to his dad. I have never collected any Navy items, so I'm a bit lost and could use some input on them. The veteran was a Hellcat pilot on the USS Belleau Wood CV-24 in the Pacific and went on to serve in Korea, served as a jet test pilot, flight deck coordinator for the USS Independence, and air coverage coordinator during the Cuban missile crisis. Retired a Navy Commander in 1963. This from a letter from his son. I am looking to pull his records, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Ken
