Nebelhund Posted January 24, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2019 Picked up this badge recently and I thought it was interesting. Wanted to get input from others here. Correct size. Color is golden, not silver. Surface (besides enamel) is slightly pebbled on front and back. The Meyer markings surprised me. I'd say the overall badge quality is good. Not as good as really early WWII examples but definitely better then their 1/20 SF Vietnam era examples. I really liked the star attachment. Haven't seen anything quite like this before. Tucker's CIB book didn't have anything close. (Sorry for size of images. Hard to stay within the 251k limit.)
268th C.A. Posted January 24, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2019 I dont like it, the casting is very poor quality. I dont think Meyer would put their name on that. See what others say....
Nebelhund Posted January 24, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted January 24, 2019 Yeah its odd. Honestly I think the casting is good but it looks blurred as the gold overlay and/or texture on top of the metal.
Wake1941 Posted January 24, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 24, 2019 Definitely a newer copy as mentioned the casting is poor. Should be flat instead of a rough surface
268th C.A. Posted January 24, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2019 The edges would be sharper and the back would be highly polished. Looks like sand casting too me. JMO
rd12 Posted January 24, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 24, 2019 Agree with above comments. Not made to gov't specs, not even made by Meyer in my opinion.
