theflyingsweede Posted January 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2019 Here is a 101st Airborne grouping that I picked up a few years ago from a Pappas family member. Cris Pappas was not in on the D Day invasion but joined up with the 101st before the Holland drop, Market Garden, and was with them till the end. The P38 he captured on the Market Garden drop, for me this is the best part of this grouping since I collect P38's. It also has the capture paperwork. Also the theater made bullion patch is really a plus to this grouping.

trenchfoot Posted January 23, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2019 Beautiful! Is the helmet in an airborne configuration?
theflyingsweede Posted January 23, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted January 23, 2019 I wished the helmet was airborne but it's not. I'll see if I can get a close up of the P38. Posting photo's here isn't the easiest.

Glidertrooper Posted January 24, 2019 Share #13 Posted January 24, 2019 Wonderful grouping. I take it that is a 377th PFAB DUI on his overseas cap?

theflyingsweede Posted January 25, 2019 Author Share #20 Posted January 25, 2019 Thanks for all the kind comments. Airborne is not really my forte. I collect WWII aviation gear and also WWII P38's. What I really like in this grouping is a captured P38 with the capture papers ID ing it a member of the 101st. Here's a picture of the inside of the helmet. Nothing special. Also on the overseas hat is his 377th PFAB DUI pin.
