hink441 Posted January 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2019 I did not think I would ever see this maneuver in a E-2 Hawkeye. This video is from VAW-123 in 1970 onboard the USS Saratoga CV-60. Pilot was the CO of VAW-123. CDR. Charles Berthe Jr.

Yeah I can't think of a reason a E-2 needs to do a roll like that. When the Skipper's chain of command saw that roll, he was probably retired on the spot!! LOL I also read the current NATOPS manual limits the angle of bank to 70 degrees these days. Chris
phantomfixer Posted January 23, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2019 Kinda cool to watch that...ever see the 707 doing a roll?...while we think of it as dangerous...the engineers say there is no inherent change in wing loading when properly rolling an aircraft...something like 1G... Gregory Posted January 24, 2019 Share #7 Posted January 24, 2019 During WWII admiral John S. McCain Sr. (am his great fan) would ground such a pilot forever.
