Cannoncocker155mm Posted January 10, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2019 Can anyone help? Looking for clear photos or information confirming the correct markings for Vietnam era JP-4 Aviation Fuel barrels I've only found one photograph (see attached) looking at the picture this is what I think it says JP4MIL SPEC xxxxFILL DATE 6/66BATCH No 755 US GAL What do you all think? Also the marking looks applied on one side of the barrel top, just wondered why its not centered, photo does show there maybe some sort of other marking above JP-4 Your thoughts please Thanks
mohawkALSE Posted January 10, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2019 The spec # should be 5624. I think you can see the 4 in the pic but that cap covers the rest. Looks like there might be another cap or something above that stamping so maybe thats why its not centered. Cool POL shot, was this from Nam? P-40Warhawk Posted January 10, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 10, 2019 Drum stencils tend to be for half the top; that way another stencil can be used for the other half. Example; brand on top, bottom half lists specs for contents, etc. There were some stencils that were full circles, but most were half a circle. Put two halves together and you covered a whole top.
