cerick1450 Posted January 5, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2019 Hello. These wings came with a complete uniform of a ball turret gunner. Sorry for the poor pics. It says sterling on rear , but have not taken off to see if maker mark is present. Does this look correct ww2 era? Thank you

cerick1450 Posted January 5, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted January 5, 2019 This was a direct vets family buy. I picked up his uniform, visor hat and jacket he wore on missions in Europe. He was a ball turret gunner with the 485th bomb group/ 830th squadron. I will post more pictures later. Thank you for the help Are these standard wings, early, etc. ? Dave Posted January 5, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2019 They look like standard air gunner wings. Nothing dramatically unusual or out of the ordinary. Sounds like a nice group!
5thwingmarty Posted January 6, 2019 Share #7 Posted January 6, 2019 That is a Bell Trading Post (Bell) wing. One of the most common issued wings but still one of the nicest in my opinion.

cerick1450 Posted January 7, 2019 Author Share #12 Posted January 7, 2019 I was excited to pick this set up. The Veteran wrote a book of his war time expierences. It included being shot down, in a B-24. Per his son, the only items he brought back from the war, was a parachute and this M43 jacket. The parachute was discarded many years ago. The M43 jacket is used, but in good shape. The label is too washed out to read.
