Edelweisse Posted January 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2019 Hi Folks: These were in the large group I purchased...and I'm trying to ID them.... The 1912 Marksmanship badge is incomplete....what does a complete badge look like and what branch of service (US Army, USMC)? The gold bar with blue "I" ...what is this? Thank you,
stratasfan Posted January 2, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2019 I'm no expert, but here is an image where similar ones are shown: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksmanship_badges_(United_States)#/media/File:Examples_of_US_Military_EIC_Badges.png Go to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksmanship_badges_(United_States) And scroll down about a third of the way and find the section entitled "Distinguished Marksmanship Programs". Looks like yours is similar to the USMC one in the picture of examples, just no "Division".
Allan H. Posted January 2, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 2, 2019 The blue enameled "I" bar is worn on the National Rifle Association's Sharpshooter Badge, There are a total of nine stages of sharpshooter before you move to the expert level. The NRA badge levels are "Pro-Marksman," "Marksman," "Marksman First Class," then nine levels of "Sharpshooter" and finally the "Expert" badge. 45govt Posted January 3, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 3, 2019 Hello Edelweisse That appears to be a state award based on William Emerson's site. Go to the bottom two pages on the link http://emersoninsignia.net/files/Download/Army%20Shooting%20Prizes%2003%2D22.pdf Looks like the state top bar is missing on yours
