Unusual flight helmet

Recommended Posts

I picked up this strange looking flight helmet and Im looking for any advice or information as to what nationality it might be etc. The guy I got it from is based in the Netherlands. With the neck protector flap it appears that it may have been used in a tropical environment, maybe the Mediterranean or N. Africa, possible Burma or the Far East. The label is totally washed out and unreadable. Theres a lace up seam that runs from back to front, very unusual. The material is a heavy duck cotton or light canvas.

Anyone have any ideas?

Rick

Used with Gueneau type 31/312/313 shells

Comms are quite hard to find...

Neck was protected from sun

Thanks! That’s great to know, it’s been quite a mystery for me!

Are they rare or hard to find? What era is it from?

Rick

Mods can close this thread now. Mystery solved, it’s French not US.

Thanks again!
