USS Kitty Hawk Quarter Centurion patch

I don't recall seeing a Quarter Centurion patch to mark 25 successful carrier landings before. Are these a 'real thing' with Navy pilots? I had wondered if this might be some type of dubious achievement award maybe for a pilot who flubbed a 26th landing or something.

I wonder if it has to do with the 25th anniversary of the Kitty Hawk commissioned service? Maybe all of the Kitty Hawk crew that were onboard for the 25th year mark were given these patches?

Thank you, Chris. That is a possibility I had not even thought about. Maybe that's what it is. If so, that might be circa 1986

That's neat Mike. Some of those early cruise books are pretty cool and can often have pictures of old squadron insignia which can make a great reference source.

Yeah theres some amazing squadron photos and crew shots as well....i dont collect them but stumbled on it in an antique store to pass on to other collectors....mike
