ClaptonIsGod Posted December 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2018 Just picked this up off eBay. Seller said it was found near Fort Polk in the early 1990s. It seems to be a plastic casting of a standard Soviet steel pot, and as a result is fairly lightweight and flexible. Inside it has two plastic hooks on elastic bands riveted in, they secure a standard 1984 dated late liner. I naturally considered that this might be a movie prop, but if it was, then I do not see why they would use a normal M1 liner as opposed to foam, etc. So, it seems to make sense to me that this is an OPFOR piece. Has anyone seen one of these before, does anyone else have one, and does anyone have photos of them in the field? Also, any ideas on value? Not planning to sell, just curious. M422A1 Posted December 20, 2018 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2018 I used to have two of those back in the eighties. I don't remember where I got them, maybe from a friend of mine that was in the Army. I sold them sometime in the nineties. I was told they were for OPFOR war games. Rhscott Posted December 21, 2018 Share #6 Posted December 21, 2018 These were training aids and were available at TAS-C on most bases. TASC made a lot of stuff local, pretty amazing place actually.
