Greetings all,

 

I recently acquired this box. It has a YD insignia burned into it, a inscription made to a Cpt James a Evarts and other writing. After doing research on the name I came to find out he belonged to the 101st MG unit. What puzzles me is what kind of box this is? And why mark up this box? Any help will shed light into this great item.

That is neat.. I once saw a Maxim 08/15 drum box with a 82nd division patch painted on it. It was used by the Company barber to

put his tools in. 30thguy

Think its for a maxim? Makes sense guy was in a machine gun battalion.

i have a WW1 stick grenade box that a 33rd Div. officer sent his gear home in.
