General Colt Posted December 5, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2018 Its an M1905E1 Bayonet. The flaming bomb indicates US Ordnance Corps. There is a great topic on here about these bayonets. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/262505-the-m1905e1-bayonet/

SKIPH Posted December 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted December 5, 2018 Dennis- It was originally made by Springfield Armory as a Model M1905 bayonet w/ 16" blade in 1916 , the serial number was 652664 (numbers did not correspond to any rifles). In 1943 the US Army opted for a shorter 10" bladed M1 bayonet, and cut 6" from existing M1905s. This one was shortened by UFH (Union Fork & Hoe) who also made M1905s, and later M1 bayonets. Yours was ground to a Bowie point, because it was found, due to the squared off fuller(blood groove) that a spear type point was not as strong, the Bowie points tend to be on the SA, and RIA cut downs .
