Major Oak leafs found, Era?

Hello,

Our office found some ACID TEST Major rank and we are trying to find a rough date they may have been from. I have looked at other posts but the backing on these are circles and not "snowflake" design I saw on other posts. Not sure if it matters.

I posted one in B&W to hopefully see the design better and the stamped acidtest.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm assuming those are gold? From the pic, it could be silver, which is why I asked. Anyway, they are very interesting as I haven't seen a circle design back like that before.

Also, these are definitely Navy/Marine Corps, so LCDR or MAJ.

They are gold. Just warn out and faded. The one picture is black and white to be able to pick the detail up a little more. Interesting they are Navy or Marine Corps. They came from a building that mainly sees Army and Air Force.

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

I would say pre- or early-WW2 Army. Like the coffin-lid bars, there were quite a few non-standard-looking variations around before Quartermaster Dept. specs started to be enforced in 1942.
