LethalWookie Posted December 4, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2018 Hello, Our office found some ACID TEST Major rank and we are trying to find a rough date they may have been from. I have looked at other posts but the backing on these are circles and not "snowflake" design I saw on other posts. Not sure if it matters. I posted one in B&W to hopefully see the design better and the stamped acidtest. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dave Posted December 4, 2018 Share #4 Posted December 4, 2018 I'm assuming those are gold? From the pic, it could be silver, which is why I asked. Anyway, they are very interesting as I haven't seen a circle design back like that before. Also, these are definitely Navy/Marine Corps, so LCDR or MAJ. LethalWookie Posted December 4, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted December 4, 2018 They are gold. Just warn out and faded. The one picture is black and white to be able to pick the detail up a little more. Interesting they are Navy or Marine Corps. They came from a building that mainly sees Army and Air Force. Thanks for all the feedback so far. Justin B. Posted December 4, 2018 Share #6 Posted December 4, 2018 I would say pre- or early-WW2 Army. Like the coffin-lid bars, there were quite a few non-standard-looking variations around before Quartermaster Dept. specs started to be enforced in 1942. KurtA Posted December 8, 2018 Share #7 Posted December 8, 2018 I always associate "Acid Test" hallmarks with pre WW2 insignia.
