Brian Keith Posted November 26, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2018 Got this the other day, was this actually ever authorized? Badge looks to be made by F. H. Nobel and Co., Chicago. Thanks for looking, BKW
Wake1941 Posted November 26, 2018 Share #2 Posted November 26, 2018 Ive had a couple myself, I dont see any reason why it wouldnt be authorized. Heck they make a sword qualification bar as well

Allan H. Posted November 26, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 26, 2018 Yes, they were authorized. The bar you have is actually fairly common. The really hard one of these to find is the one that reads "Field Artillery." There are other cannon related bars like "AA Artillery" also. MattS Posted November 26, 2018 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2018 I have one of those too! Funny how they are both 'expert', I'm guessing if you're using a 105mm round to qualify, close is good enough.
12A54 Posted November 27, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 27, 2018 Might be a series of tasks to qualify. I was a tank commander and ours (Tank Weapons) required passing all stations of a gunnery skills test (all on board weapons, ammunition, select tasks, etc.) and then all the tank gunnery tables for a score that resulted in the appropriate marksmanship badge with the Tank Weapons bar attached. If you were Distinguished it was Expert, Superior was Sharpshooter, and Qualified was Marksman. Might have been similar for Artillery?
Brian Keith Posted November 28, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted November 28, 2018 Thanks for all the comments everyone. My guess is that the whole crew is rated at the same time. Fire for effect! BKW
texman1985 Posted December 30, 2018 Share #8 Posted December 30, 2018 Reading this made me go look at mine, and all are the lead cast "Field Arty" clasps.
