USdog Posted November 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2018 I know its a long shot but can anyone identify what these aluminum panels were used for? Or possibly what plane they are from? I got them from an aircraft museum and they couldnt tell me what they were off of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

917601 Posted November 19, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2018 Very interesting, first, we need detailed pics of the fasteners ( are they 1/4 turns?), second, color ( they used zinc chromate primer back then which is green - use is banned today), is there green primer under the top coat? What thickness and type is the metal ( probably aluminum 2024-T3, 0.050, 0.062,..etc), the alloy type can be determined with a Hardness testor...I am a licensed FAA A&P and hang out a lot with our local CAF chapter, Dixie Wing chapter, Warbirds....detailed fastener pics is the best start. Fastener design usually can nail a time period.
