museums Posted November 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2018 I've spent a fair time searching for these with no luck. The top bar, far left with four devices, looks like a Philippines Presidential Unit citation without the gold frame? The one on the far right (with one device) is similar to the Philippines Independence medal, but has red rather than yellow on the edges. No clue of the middle one.The second bar has a WWII Victory but what's that beside it? Any input appreciated.Bryan
lettow Posted November 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted November 19, 2018 The ribbon on the right of the lower bar is the Merchant Marine Mediterranean and Middle East War Zone.
lettow Posted November 19, 2018 Share #3 Posted November 19, 2018 The upper bar are all Texas awards. Faithful Service, Federal Service, Medal of Merit.
museums Posted November 19, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted November 19, 2018 Thanks. I was focused on foreign awards, hadn't considered state.
lettow Posted November 19, 2018 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2018 I id a google search for medal and "acorn devices". That brought up an old post here that showed the Texas Medal of Merit. Then it was to the OMSA database to find the others.
SemperParatus Posted November 30, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 30, 2018 Just as a passing comment. Regarding the Merchant Marine MED-MID EAST WAR ZONE BAR, stars as attachments were never official for this or the other War Zone Bars. Obviously this one has been in place for a long time. Perhaps the original owner thought he deserved a star for each voyage into the war zone and considering what some of these men and women went through, who could blame him.
