Persian Gulf Command

Fine early WW2 Yellow Mk2 Grenade with plugged bottom and a field applied green paint. Nice al be it well worn WW2 item!

Very nice grenade, highly collectible to grenade guys. Pin original, early issue, field painted. Few surviving examples. As an " intermediate level" collector, I have never seen an M10A3 original un-modified spoon ( M10A1/2's were modified and overstamped mid war to M10A3) with a black painted tip- a mid war spoon on an early war grenade body, an oddity. Can you unscrew the fuze assy and post a picture of the fuze? It may/ may not have a green laquer color just past the ignition train. My initial thought is the spoon has been added after the fact due to it not having any trace of green paint on it. Very interesting, thanks for posting.

Thank You for info and great picture ! Grenade comes from an older collection and its safe to assume that spoons were mixed/replaced between the grenades

Roger it having a replaced spoon, many M10A2 overstamped M10A3's out there, which would be more " correct". You may even find a few M10A2's Un modified ones for sale ( which I believe would be the perfect match). Notice the faint green laquer paint on the fuze train bottom, denoting an ignition fuze as opposed to a detonating fuze which has a reddish laquer and used in the M6 fuzes for a later TNT filled grenade. In any case, a very desirable example.
