Outtair Posted October 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 14, 2018 I found this cap in a garage at a old house. It is not a coarse wool, leather sweat band no marking, pin back disk. patch is 1-1/2" diameter. Is this post WWI? Thanks, Tim
Wake1941 Posted October 14, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2018 Looks good I would call it WW1. But its very likely the patch was sewn on during the occupation period possibly 1919. I would doubt this would have been worn in combat. But it definitely belonged to someone who served in WW1
Allan H. Posted October 15, 2018 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2018 These small patches are usually associated with George Studley. I would say that this cap dates to the 1920's or possibly later. For those of you who are going to tell me that the brass would be gilt if the cap was 1920's, know that many of the National Guard Divisions continued to use bronze disks well after the change over due to the fact that there wasn't always money available to pay for the change. 36thIDAlex Posted October 15, 2018 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2018 Very nice cap, my 2 cents says directly right after the war but a fantastic piece.
