Ritman Posted October 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2018 I have a couple General Officers I am unable to identify. The 2nd Officer is Signed with a black ink on a black background. Admiral Dodson served as the Communications Officer aboard the USS Hornet during the Doolittle raid on Tokyo, which he stated was his most thrilling experience of the war. While on the Hornet he participated in the Battle of Midway and Battle of Santa Cruz, in which she was lost. He later served as Staff Communications Officer aboard the USS Enterprise, USS Essex, and USS Bunker Hill. Admiral Halsey awarded him the Silver Star medal for gallantry in action at the Battle of Santa Cruz.
