And in the Second Indochina War, soldier here is Colonel Sidney Marks CO 3rd Brigade 1st Infantry Division 66-67 and 3 Time CIB recipient. Helmet net and band may have been an in country left over from the stuff we gave the French.

Rhine offensive pictures. Bridge pic is at Ludendorff, the GIs in front of the cart are members of the 78th 'Lightning' infantry division.

Here are some men from the 161st on Luzon with the net and band. Notice they tucked their chinstraps up underneath the band.

Two images accredited to the Battle of the Bulge. First is particularly interesting, as they have the band but no net and their chinstraps over their helmet. Holding things or foliage is my guess as to why.

Curious, haven't seen any worn on the Italian Front, anybody else?

Im alittle late, but I presume its similar to the M43 field jacket.

Did they see use in Italy? Surely. Do pictures exist? Most likely. But were they a rarity? Absolutely. I searched for about 30 minutes on the web looking for images for this thread, and I’ve come to the conclusion most units were not supplied with nets or bands in the very early stages of the German Ardennes offensive in late ‘44.

Just a matter of the United States hectic overseas distribution. If you got ‘em you got ‘em.

The soldier on the left in the top picture appears to be wearing an m42 jump jacket underneath his overalls.

Poor guy must be freezing

Im guessing he already  past the point of being cold. Helmet on a stick is a marker for graves registration

I was referring to the guy in the top picture. He's wearing an m42 jump jacket during the bulge. Not ideal.

The FSSF in Italy often is seen wearing just the band on the helmets

Great pic! Can't say I've ever seen any WWII unit other than the 1st fssf use rubber helmet bands. As far as I know they are unique to the 1st fssf.
