The white paint fingerprint under the "DIVISION" means the white was on there first and applied in a messy fashion, like I would expect from a USN helmet painted onboard a ship at sea. Could a 34th vet have swiped a USN helmet while on the ship and painted it? Maybe. Could this be a plain USN helmet with 34th insignia added last month?
