A friend of mine sent me this from his local surplus store. The jacket dates to Vietnam but we could not identify the patch. Any help is appreciated.

Ah I see. We just had a mutual friend who operated as an Air Force mechanic in Da Nang who thought it might be an SOG loadmaster or something but I could not find anything to confirm.

Isn't it a Combat Control Unit?

Bob is right, it has elements of the Combat Control Team beret badge.

Below is the model approved by 7th AF for the CCT of the 8th Aerial Port Squadron at Tan Son Nhut (left), and the CCT badge adopted post-Vietnam (right).

Can we see more of the jacket?

Here is the patch being worn by USAF Combat Controllers.

Here is a slight variation of this patch.

Getting back to the uniform, if it has the rank, USAF strip and name strip along with that patch, that is one to pick up. It is hard to find USAF ERDL camo uniforms with shoulder insignia.

Thanks everyone for the help, I definitely would not have found that out! As far as the uniform goes my buddy is going to go back as soon as they open up again to pick it up. It has the rank of E-6 and he believes it had some name tape and an air assault badge sewn on there as well. Hopefully he will let me buy it off him!
