rmoore456 Posted November 8, 2019 Share #26 Posted November 8, 2019 I thought this was interesting for USN cold-weather shirts, a USN captain (Leslie Gehres, COMPATWING FOUR) wearing an army enlisted OD wool shirt in the Aleutians, 1942. usn_od_wool_1942.jpg https://www.history.navy.mil/content/history/nhhc/our-collections/photography/alphabetical---donations0/g/ua-480-04-radm-leslie-e--gehres-collection.html Here is mine from a SACO veteran. 29navy Posted November 8, 2019 Share #27 Posted November 8, 2019 I had forgotten about this thread. Seeing the OD shirt reminded me of some pictures I have of Naval Aviation types in Alaska wearing OD Wool shirts. I have an OD wool shirt with a Naval Clothing Factory tag in it.. This picture is from October 1943, captioned they were Catalina crew in the Aleutians.
29navy Posted November 8, 2019 Share #28 Posted November 8, 2019 Here's another one from the same batch (from the National Archives). Both pictures are a good study of miscellaneous stuff you'd find in the barracks.
LucaB Posted August 4, 2020 Share #29 Posted August 4, 2020 Hi, I'd like to receive info about this WWII USN CPO shirt that has a label similar to peacoat. Is it original? Thanks

D. or USN aviation green, the latter not being the same color. The shirt you have in your collection I believe would be in the USN green, not O. D., and if a contract number is present on the label, we should be able to approximate if wartime or postwar.

These shirts were still in production immediately after the war and this, I think, is one such shirt. Is this yours? Do you want to sell?
