Dogtown Posted September 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2018 I found this today at the local Goodwill.. Cheap too. It's a really large size but I'm having trouble trying to ID it. The tag that was sewn up near the collar has been torn out and there are no stampings inside... Ideas? Thanks in advance....

Sully Posted September 28, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 28, 2018 I had one of these a bit ago. They were apparently an African contract in a former French colony.

Garandomatic Posted September 28, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 28, 2018 Had a US Army SF used Lizard shirt once, it had a bit more tan to it if I recall. Was pretty cool.

vintageproductions Posted September 28, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 28, 2018 Couldn't it also be Greek or Brazilian? All based on French but it goes by the cut and the material weight.
Garandomatic Posted September 28, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2018 And with the French stuff, the direction of the pattern. One country, maybe Brazil, had theirs run vertically.
Sully Posted September 28, 2018 Share #11 Posted September 28, 2018 Here is the set that I had. In different collector groups I belong to it was IDed as an African contract. I forget which country off hand. Might be found over here: http://www.camopedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page#AFRICA

Dogtown Posted September 28, 2018 Author Share #14 Posted September 28, 2018 Sully - Mine is the exact cut as yours - the two Velcro's (one above the pocket, the other at the chest) along with the two vertical zippered pockets. It's a huge jacket too. Dude must of been about 6'3' and weighed in at 270. I'll check out the website and see if I can nail down which country.... Again fellas, thanks for the comments and help. kammo-man Posted September 29, 2018 Share #15 Posted September 29, 2018 I wore my 47-51 today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
usscorsica Posted October 2, 2018 Share #16 Posted October 2, 2018 hello for sure not an original french jacket. It could be made for an african nation because the french pattern is really different. Also could be a hunter made. Regards J-Mi
earlymb Posted October 2, 2018 Share #17 Posted October 2, 2018 This my TAP 47/56 jacket, a recently discovered interest. I did wear it occasionally but I'm too lazy to get it off the torso every time I go walk my dog.
