I am currently taking pictures of each one, it's a long process. Lots of untouched sets and lots of early builds all parts in these helmets are correct and pre date 1970. Most are early (1959-1965)

Another shot

You probably have offers of people willing to come over and help rake the yard, if they can have the leaves.

Nice.

Yes Alex, I have some unmessed with sets with graffiti and some with ID's, some with both.

I have about 20 more helmets not shown here, most of those are not as friendly being handled so I didn't take them out.

I'm working on getting photos of each one

A collector friend of mine suggest I make an Instagram page because it's easy to use and free. Which I am currently exploring. You don't need an account to view the profile so perhaps when I get that going I will post a link here

I had a lot of lids too but I sold them due to the lack of room. But definitely not as many as Justin, very nice collection my friend!

Thanks A they definitely take up a lot of space, there's one in the bunch you'd especially like as it's real deal 25th ID connection and it came with a beautiful patched JJ, actually the cover came with the JJ but I like helmets more :)

Hi guys,

You may have seen this helmet, as I have posted it separately, but I wanted to share it here too.

I discovered this helmet and was able to use the information written on the camo cover to track down the man who wore it. His name was William George Dutches, from Hawthorne NJ. He was in the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He sadly was killed at age 21 during an ambush in the Quang Nam area.

Betty Lou, written on the front of the helmet, was his girlfriend at the time. They were to be married upon his return from Vietnam, which never came.

With the help of Paul Chepurko, a fellow forum member from Hawthorne NJ, I was able to get in touch with Betty Lou, who is still alive. I spoke with her on the phone for over an hour, hearing all about William and their times together. He was her first love, and she has never forgotten him.

The helmet is currently in the mail on its way to Betty Lou, where it belongs. I'm sure it's exactly where William would have wanted it.

I hope you guys enjoy this helmet, a truly poignant example of a young man killed far from home. An excellent reference to compare fakes to, as this helmet cover is 100% original. The liner and shell are not original to the cover.

If anyone is considering selling graffiti M1's, let me know. I am looking to fill this hole in my collection.

Cheers,

Quinn
