Backtheattack Posted September 23, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2018 Tennenlohe near Nürnberg/Bavaria was a training area near Erlangen, mostly for the Ferris barracks at Erlangen, but for other units at Nürnberg and around, too. The end for this area came in 1993.

patches Posted September 23, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 23, 2018 Great foto's, they can be definitively ID. and will date a little earlier than 1970, probaly sometime in 1967. The 4th Armd Div's 3rd Bn 37th Armor. And the 1st Bn 34th Inf, 24th Inf Div, this one is the dating factor, as the 1st Bn 34th Inf along with most of the 24th Inf Div is no longer in West Germany by 1970, this particular unit, the 24th Inf Div's 1st Bn 34th Inf leaves there for Ft Riley Kansas in April 1968. patches Posted September 23, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 23, 2018 This one will be the 1st Bn 36th Artillery (note their DI on the sign in the background), a non divisional separate 8" Howitzer unit under the direct command of 7th Army (note the 7A on the bumper along with rest of code). The other tank photo, can't make out bumper codes, but probably either another 4th Armd Div tank.

vonmoen Posted September 25, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 25, 2018 I was stationed at Ferris Barracks in 1977-78 and trained at Tennenlohe. Was there when the range caught fire on June 10th, 1977.
