NamHelmet Posted September 22, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2018 Does anyone know the significance of the stamp "N5-2" on the bottom rear of this M69 Fragmentation Vest? Would this designate it to a vehicle, vessel, a post war stamp, etc.? It's a 1969 contact with zipper front if that is or any consequence. Martinjmpr Posted September 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2018 Unit control number maybe, for accountability? Were vests like that considered "controlled items" that had to be specifically accounted for? I know when I was in from 1980 - 2001, vests were only issued for specific operations. When we went to Haiti in 1995 for Operation Uphold Democracy we were issued PASGT vests and again when we went to the Balkans in 1997 for Operation Joint Guard we were issued vests. But they were issued with our regular equipment and not specifically accounted for or controlled.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted September 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2018 Unfortunately I think unless someone recognizes the exact font and format it is too generic to pin it down to what unit did it. There's a chance its not even military, M69s were used by police departments and such.
