wildcat123 Posted September 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2018 Picked this up locally labeled as 1970s Navy flight jacket. Tag reads Bauer US Navy G1 Spec 55J14 (AER). From what Ive found on the forum these were made between 1947 and 51. Is that correct? Does this look like a vintage jacket? Are the knits original? Thx in advance, looking forward to learning more about my purchase.

doyler Posted September 9, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2018 Waist band looks original(bi-directional weave) Cuffs look replaced and zipper looks to be replaced.Appears to have over stitch marks? I think the 55J14 are not that common
wildcat123 Posted September 9, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted September 9, 2018 Thanks R! I couldnt make up my mind on the zipper, but never handled many leather coats either? Any ball park on what these bring? Am I right in Korean War vintage?
doyler Posted September 9, 2018 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2018 T Not sure on price.I had one and sold it cheap but it was pretty dry and had very bad cuffs. The 55J14 jackets were produced from 1947-1950 then followed by the Mil-J-7823 So Im sure many saw use in Korea era by pilots who had them. Here was one sold on a site but it was also a size 44 and size will bring a bit more if 44-46-48 etc. http://www.goodwearleather.com/pages/sale_foster55j14_0001.html
