pararaftanr2 Posted September 2, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2018 It's a U.S. Navy NAF-1092L, a.k.a. an intermediate leather flight helmet. Originated prior to WW2, was issued until replaced in 1943 by a similar helmet with built in earphone holders. The khaki cloth version was for summer wear, the fleece lined examples for winter and the "intermediate" for moderate temperatures, in theory. Your example was made by Slote & Klein, Inc. The exterior is goat skin and the interior lining is chamois. They were issued with matching leather earcups and chin cup. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
