Ray175INF Posted September 2, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2018 I cant help with dating it but these tobacco tins are very cool in my opinion The shape and size reminds me of the Prince Albert tobacco tins These tins can fit and were put on telegraph Sounders to amplify the "clicks and "clacks" of incoming messages so that the telegraph operator could hear them if he had to step away from the office. mb399579 Posted September 3, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted September 3, 2018 Thanks for your replies. Do you think this tin could date around ww2 area ? Bertrand
trenchbuff Posted September 4, 2018 Share #8 Posted September 4, 2018 Sir Walter Raleigh tobacco was sold starting around 1927. I believe your tin dates from before WW2 and closer to 1927 because of the style of lid.
doyler Posted September 4, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 4, 2018 One thing with the older cans is many had a striker on the bottom for lighting matches. I don't have the date when this was removed or if all the cans had it.
