tony75 Posted August 30, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2018 Hello What do these markings mean on this bayonet? I take it its a 1855 model? Penny passes easily and its about 18 inches long But I can not figure out the markings? ( inspection) Thank you Tony

268th C.A. Posted August 30, 2018 Share #4 Posted August 30, 2018 I believe this may be the soldiers rack & stack number, he was #12 in the platoon, so all his gear would be marked the same way. I have a 1851 belt plate if I remember right it has a number like yours only XV11. yours resembles a 45.70 bayonet too me. I always at a show know a nickle will drop through a .58 cal but not a 45.70. as a quick test...
